Astrid is a hand-sized fairy with buzzing wings; red sparkles follow her when she flies. She wears a tuxedo, and her raven hair is tied up in severe bun. She has a deep, serious voice that is not at odds with her appearance.[1]

As a Bloodlust Sprite, she has access to powerful cardiovascular magic including spells that boil blood, deprive it of oxygen, turn your blood to acid and turn your heart into a mob. She has Cosmic Sense that warns her if a god or demon is present as well as psionic abilities. She can cast Summon Guard five times a day with no cool down, each casting summoning between one and three guards to her instantaneously. Her intelligence is 150.

Astrid gives Carl and Donut complimentary security after the failed assassination attempt by Ji-Hoon.
Book 6
On the Eighth Floor, Katia Grim received a quest from the Guild of Suffering to assassinate Astrid. Before Katia and Carl killed her, Astrid asked them to "save my children" and said that she "was almost done". They also discover that The Night Wyrm, Hamed, was Astrid's husband and had ordered her death.
