It is said that the long-forgotten goddess Nekhebit is both jealous and terrible. When the elf mothers chose to abandon Nekhebit and instead worship Apito, the Oak Goddess, it is written Nekhebit grew enraged. The mighty vulture goddess blamed the male-dominated high elf court for causing her worshippers to stray. As a result, she cursed their seed, thus creating what is today known as the Fae Diaspora. There are dozens of elf and fairy breeds, all of whom may trace their lineage back to the early high elf court, whose cursed offspring sowed the universe.

This crossbow is rumored to have been given to Nekhebit’s last warrior guardian as a gift for remaining true to her faith.

Description

The crossbow appears to be made of gold, but feels almost plastic. It has an inlay carving of a vulture. [1]

With two females in a party, the crossbow fires twice a second, auto-loading, cocking, and firing. The base ammo is a magical razor-tipped bolt, about 20 inches long. The bolts disappear after about a minute. [2]

Story

Hekla acquires this item quite early in the dungeon, most likely after killing a mob using her husband's corpse on the First Floor. She is seen using the crossbow in the Recap Episodes, but it is not named or seen in person until the Fourth Floor.

Book 2

Carl recalls seeing Brynhild's Daughters on a recap episode defeat an Owlbear Borough boss. Hekla's crossbow “was like a ranged chainsaw.” [3]

Book 3

Hekla sometimes does a ninja kick before she shoots an enemy with her crossbow. Donut asks Katia to ask her what the name of the move is and Hekla calls it the 'Donut Kick'. [4]

Katia Grim acquires this weapon off Hekla's corpse during the Vermillion Line Rescue. Carl notes this is most likely the reason Hekla gathered so many females in Brynhild's Daughters. [1]

Katia uses the crossbow against the Stage 3 DTs Razor Fox, morphing into a three legged tri-pod with shield and mounted crossbow. The crossbow only fires two shots a second for her, but the crossbow auto-loads, cocks and fires. Each bolt is about 20 inches long, disappearing on their own about a minute after being fired. [2]
