The last thing we all need is the version of Carl where he's angrier and broodier than normal. We already have Florin for that.
-- Elle (Book 5, Chapter 52)
Florin is an Earth crawler who frequently appears on the Leaderboard Top Ten List. Although he does not belong to a party, he is a member of Safehome Yolanda and a close ally of the Royal Court of Princess Donut.
Description
Florin claims to be from France but speaks with an Australian accent. He had been working as "private security" (read: mercenary for hire) in Africa before the transformation, and entered the Dungeon "armed to the teeth." Eventually, his already heavily modified Mossberg shotgun received a magical upgrade that gives it unlimited ammunition. The shotgun is now his primary weapon.[1][2]
On the Third Floor, Florin selects the Crocodilian race and Shotgun Messenger Class. He and his partner, Ifechi, are instant hits on the Dungeon Leaderboards and Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, and remain fan favorites until Ifechi's death. After her loss, Florin is prepared to give up, but is inspired to keep fighting by Carl's selfless efforts to save everyone on the Fifth Floor.
The first time he meets the Royal Court, he tells Carl, intensely, "If you ever need a backup gun, I'm in your debt."[2]
Appearance
Florin has scaly green skin and intense dark eyes.[2]

Story
Book 2
Florin first appears on the recap episode in the middle of the Third Floor. Carl comments that he has a Mossberg mag-fed shotgun that never seems to run out of shells. Donut is curious how he gets a shirt on over his crocodile head. [3]
Florin meets and forms a party with Ifechi, the only surviving member of Le Mouvement, on the Second Floor. They had different Game Guides and were separated upon arriving on the Third Floor; regardless, Florin chose the Crocodilian race specifically because the race triples any buffs received from eating creatures, and Ifechi's primary attack spawns dozens of edible, buff-giving leeches. The two quickly find each other after race/ class selection, and their reunion is tearful. They have known each other for five days at most but are already very close; Florin calls her "Ife."[1]
Book 3
Both Ifechi and Florin make the first Leaderboard. [4]
At the end of the Fourth Floor, Florin and Ifechi are part of an orderly queue to descend to the next floor when Lucia Mar enters the chamber in her beautiful woman form, flanked as always by Cici and Gustavo 3. The growling dogs make other crawlers nervous, causing a glut to form at the exit, but Florin and Ifechi attempt to greet the young crawler. Lucia, hugging herself, says, "No. This is mine," and Florin backs off with his arms up - but mutters "crazy bitch" under his breath. This sets off a chain reaction that ends with Gustavo 3 blocking an unnamed crawler from accessing the stairs, Lucia threatening Ifechi, and Florin trying to draw Lucia's attention to himself.[1]
Ifechi casts two protection spells: one on Florin, one on the unnamed crawler. In the next ten seconds, the dogs rush Florin, Florin whips out his shotgun, and shoots Lucia, Gustavo 3, and Cici at least three times each, unaware that Lucia has used the Rubber Spell. His first six shots strike Ifechi directly in the head, killing her. The next three shots strike Florin, nearly draining his health. In the aftermath, Florin receives a gold player-killer skull, credit and experience for Ifechi’s murder, and access to the Desperado Club.[2][1]
Book 4
Florin gathers Ifechi's leech staff and descends the stairs to the Fifth Floor.[1] He lingers in the entry chamber, inconsolable, unmoving, for days; when he finally spins the wheel, he enters a bubble full of dead crawlers.[5] He manages to clear three castles in his quadrant entirely on his own but, unable to conquer the air quadrant, retreats hopelessly to the Desperado Club. Elle finds him there, and Florin becomes the last crawler rescued in the first phase of Carl’s plan using the Gate of the Feral Gods. He tells Carl:
“I was done, mate. I didn’t have anything,” he said, suddenly emotional. “You should have met her. My Ife. She was amazing. A ray of light. She was the bravest, kindest person I’d ever met. She gave me hope. I was done until I went into the club, and I met Elle. She told me a story about this man and his cat who’d stopped everything he was doing to help a group of old people in wheelchairs and how this same man was planning on using this artifact he’d found to save people stuck in their bubbles. And it reminded me that Ife wasn’t the only one. That there is good in this world. There is something left to fight for. I might die tomorrow, but it won’t be because I’ve given up. And I want to thank you for that.”[6][2]
Book 5
On the Sixth Floor Hunting Grounds, Florin joins Team Katia in the quest to save the remaining Brynhild's Daughters from Eva Sigrid; Katia notes, "Florin is doing a good Carl impersonation with how broody he’s being."[7][8] For all the good he does, Florin fully intends to kill Lucia Mar himself.[9]
At the Butcher's Masquerade, Florin refuses to back out despite agreed-upon rules when Queen Imogen is revealed to be Ifechi's twin sister.[10] Lucia Mar is in attendance but Florin initially ignores her in favor of helping Daniel Bautista physically restrain Katia Grim from attacking Eva. Ultimately, Florin is the first to recognize that something is very weird about Lucia when she is separated from the dogs.[11] The crawlers see Florin cradling a sobbing Lucia, who asks for her mom (in the wrong accent) before flipping like a switch to her violent, abrasive, tequila-loving persona. Florin insists that he was speaking to a ten year-old Dutch girl named Jill (capable of identifying the Dutch Prime Minister), that there are multiple kids in Lucia's head, and that Gustavo 3 is remotely controlling her.[12]
