“Judge. We wish for judgment,” the center goat said. The other two let out a long, prolonged bleat that sounded like it was being played back in slow motion.[1]
The Plenty are the Caprid organization (or race) responsible for the modern tunneling system.[2]
Description
Members of the Plenty are bipedal goats with red eyes, demonic-looking horns, and long, shaggy black hair. Their "completely unpronounceable" names look like scientific equations.[3][4] Their language sounds "like something a goat straight out of hell would say, like Latin played backwards in slow motion."[4]
The Plenty have a seat on the Syndicate Council, but never show up to meetings.[5] They also produce the Syndicate show, Plenty of Plenty.
The Tunnel System
The Plenty developed the modern tunneling system several hundred cycles ago, making it possible to communicate and broadcast across the vast universe in real time. The technology is proprietary, meaning no one outside the Plenty understands it, and has rendered wormhole-based communication relays obsolete. Borant Corporation and the Bloom, which held stock in the now-obsolete relays, have been using the Plenty's tunneling system to spread rumors that the technology was actually created by the Apothecary and its true purpose is to indoctrinate everyone into the collective mind.[2]
The Syndicate Council pays enormous fees in advance to livestream Dungeon Crawler World using the tunnel system. The Plenty does not give refunds.[6]
The Plenty's tunnel system has largely replaced wormhole-based travel, allowing the Plenty to collect fees for transportation across the universe as well.[7] After catching a glimpse of a giant, jet-black representative of the Plenty, Carl exclaims, “You motherfuckers let these guys control all of the universe’s transportation systems?”[8]
Logo
The Plenty's logo is "a creepy eyeball thing" with a bunch of squiggles radiating out from it. Carl likens it to "something that would be spray-painted on the wall at the scene of a ritual murder."[9]
Story
After the Valtay obtain majority ownership of the Borant Corporation, the Plenty purchase Carl's empty sponsorship spot and immediately give him a Gold Benefactor Box containing an Upgrade Patch of the Midnight Epicure.[10] At the same time, the Apothecary sends Donut the Enchanted Silver Bracelet of the Ab-solar, prompting Mordecai to observe, “It’s pretty clear the Apothecary and the Plenty really are working together. At least when it comes to your sponsorship prizes. That’ll be sure to stop all those rumors.”[11]
After Miriam Dom's death, the Plenty sends Prepotente an Emergency Legendary Benefactor Box containing a recipe and spray bottle designed to kill Odious Creepers.[12] As a result, Prepotente gains ten levels and eighty total stat points.[13] Carl and Donut both suspect that the Plenty wanted Miriam Dom to die; Carl believes that Prepotente thinks so too.[12]
Before the Butcher's Masquerade, the Apothecary sends five benefactor boxes to its sponsors, all intended for Donut. Prepotente uses two of these items to "accelerate" the Seventh Floor.[14] Mordecai later explains that because the Syndicate has prepaid its tunnel fees, this was an orchestrated political maneuver that allowed the Plenty and the Apothecary to earn a lot of money at the Syndicate's and Valtay's expense.[6]
