Reward Room

You have discovered a Reward Room! [1]

Reward Room is a type of prize a crawler can get from defeating a boss. The crawler may receive an item (such as a key) that enables them to choose what they want from a list of options.

Description

Reward rooms contain multiple options for crawlers to choose their prize. From I'll Take the Ceramic Dalmatian, Pat! Achievement description:

You have discovered a Reward Room! Scattered throughout the dungeon, reward rooms offer crawlers items generally not available within loot boxes. Most reward rooms only allow one choice. So, if you’re in a party of multiple people, tell them I said you should get the prize, not them.[1]

The key that Carl obtains from the Kobold corpse on the Second Floor is an example of a selection mechanism for the room.

Master Pen Key

Opens the individual cages of both the fighters and the bait animals within the kobold fighting pits. This key is magically attuned to the kobold race. If you are not a kobold and attempt to use this key, it will only work once before breaking.

Pet Reward Room

A pet reward room is a type of reward room that allows a crawler to choose a pet companion. From Menagerie Achievement Description:

You have discovered a pet Reward Room. From caterpillars who secrete vodka to basilisks who can turn mobs to stone, a good pet can make the difference between survival and the end of the road. Just remember what happened with Harambe. There ain’t no zookeepers around to shoot the monster’s ass if you bite off more than you can chew. [1]

Iron Tangle Reward Room

SPOILERS FOR BOOK 3

The tenth car on all the colored lines of the Iron Tangle have a Porter room, staffed by a pair of Grapple Porters. Each crawler can get one prize (suitcase) from the room, which can contain either a prize or a trap. [2]

Story

Book 1

Carl and Donut receive a key after defeating Ralph and the Kobolds on the Second Floor. They find a Pet Reward Room and have only have one key to choose a pet option. There are 10 cages to choose from. Carl considers a Brindle Grub but Donut wants to choose the Mongoliensis. [1]

Book 3

SPOILERS FOR BOOK 3

Carl and Donut go to the Reward Room on the Yellow Lines and get one prize bag suitcase each from the porter Pierre. Carl got a Potion of Invisibility and Donut got a suitcase of Literal Fire Ants. [2]
