Carl: Elle. Do me a favor and ask your manager if there’s a secret way to kill a mimic.” [1]

Station Mimic is a City Boss on the Fourth Floor. They are at station 433, Terminous station.

Description

Mimics are shapeshifting creatures that can turn into inanimate objects to fool crawlers into coming close enough to be eaten. If a part of a mimic is chopped off, the removed part turns into a spidery creature and crawls back to join the whole. Bashing weapons and magic do nothing against it. If more than 50% of the body mass is removed, it can no longer heal or transform. The sliced pieces can't be killed and won't die until the entire thing dies. [1]

Madison is the benefits manager for the Kravyad and the Station Mimics. There are six of them on the Iron Tangle, and are paid in passengers being told to get off the trains at station 433.[2]

Appearance

The monster looks like a potato shaped blob the size of a block stretching to the ceiling. [1]

Story

Book 3

Carl tells Bautista not to get off at station 433 because it's a trap. [2] Bautista tells him his warning came too late. [3]

“The whole damn station is a city boss. We gathered about 400 people on the train, and when they went up the stairs, it swallowed the first twenty of them like it was eating Cheese Rings. We’re on the platform now fighting off its tongue and its minions. It belches and these walking mouth things pour out of it. They’re too strong. Waiting on the next train to escape. Don’t know what we’re going to do. Half of these guys sold their hats.”[3]

During the End of the Line Rescue, Carl accidentally portals a Station Mimic to Train yard E using an Interdiction Rapid-Response Railway Repair Cart. When Carl uses his neural enhancer to look through the portal, the monster looks like a potato shaped blob the size of a block stretching to the ceiling. It starts to form into a large building, taking the shape of the Iron Tangle administrative building. The mouth appears to be 300 feet wide, each jagged tooth the size of a person, with a red lumpy train sized tongue. [1]
