Tutorial Guild Hall

Tutorial Guild Halls are special Safe Rooms which can only be found on the first, second, and third floors of the Dungeon. New crawlers must find a Tutorial Guild Hall in order to start the Tutorial.[1]

AI Notifications

Tutorial Guild Halls are marked by simple, hard-to-see signs that blend into the Dungeon walls. The first time a crawler finds and reads a Tutorial Guild Hall sign, they receive the You've Discovered and Read an Official Dungeon Sign Achievement, which upgrades the crawler's Heads-Up Display (HUD) and minimap to make guild halls easier to find in the future.[2]

Entering the hall unlocks the You've Entered a Guildhall! Achievement achievement, and prompts the following notice:

Tutorial Guild Hall
This is a Safe Zone.
Warning: level timers are still active.[3]

Description

Tutorial Guild Halls are managed by Guildmasters, who are typically former crawlers who took indentured servitude deals after reaching the Tenth Floor (e.g. Mordecai, Mistress Tiatha, etc.). The guild hall is the guildmaster's personal room, complete with their bed and any personal affects they may have, with additional space for new crawlers to sit.[4][5]

After a crawler completes the Tutorial, the guildmaster becomes their Game Guide. Going forward, all Tutorial Guild Hall doors they find in the Dungeon are portals leading to the Game Guide's room.[6]

Mordecai's Room

Carl and Princess Donut are only able to access Mordecai's Guild Hall, which is his personal space. Mordecai notes that after the third floor, he typically transfers to a magic guild on a lower floor and his room becomes larger.[7]

On the First Floor, half of the room is dominated by Mordecai's bed and a fireplace, and decorated with his mother's ashes and a photograph of Uzzi; the other half of the room contains a worn, gray oval-shaped rug, an empty desk, and six classroom chairs.[8] On the Third Floor, the chairs are replaced by beds to accommodate crawlers who choose to change into a significantly different race.[9]

In the Soundbooth Theater Cinematic Audio, the room also includes a storage closet containing a double-decker cart with a Betamax VHS player on one level, and an old tube TV strapped to the top with black nylon straps reading "Living Grace Mormon Tabernacle" in white-out scrawl.[10]
